If you can get to a link that will open a pdf version of any book, you can 
download it by right clicking the link and selecting "save link as" (NS4) 
or "Save target as..." (IE5). You want the pdf version, not the html, 
because the pdf will all be in one document, where html will be on many 
(unencapsulated) pages. You're probably already aware of this, but the 
initial page for getting at on-line manuals is
