  • Subject: Re: Visual Age for Java 3.0 install problems

Hi..

A couple of ideas that might help IF it is related to the size of the
classpath string that
VisualAge tries to set....

1 install VisualAge into a custom directory, not the default with the long
names
(I install into a simple directory 'vj' that gives me short path names
and
that has worked well in Windows).

2 in autoexec.bat try using the SUBST command to map a long path name
to a logical drive letter eg:

        SUBST x: c:\myReallyLong\PathToSomething...

this remaps all sub directories to a shorter length....

           c:\myReallyLong\PathToSomething\aSubDirectory

        becomes:

        x:\aSubDirectory

Either option should allow you to install IF the problem is the length of
the generated classpath .....
