Hello, I am currently looking at Java on the AS400 to rewrite and also
create some new batch processes in our current enviornment. My concern is
with performance. We typically run through hundreds of thousands of
records (if not millions) and chain to many files in a typical RPG program.
Should I be using the AS400 toolbox and record level access or should I be
using Java and SQL? Our intent is to see if it is feasible to use Java
rather than RPG in a primarily batch enviornment. Can I get an exceptable
level of performance? What kind of performance can I expect? What
techniques should I use?
