The output file I want to write to is
/QSYS.LIB/DEVDMGWRK.LIB/JAVAOUT.FILE/JAVAOUT.MBR
---------

David, as you've been told, you need to create the member first in order to
write to it. However, once you've done that, you can use my JDB/400 classes to
write to the new member quite easily:

Jdb400SequentialFile JAVAOUT = new
JDB400SequentialFile("DEVDMGWRK/JAVAOUT.JAVAOUT");
JAVAOUT.setField("SRCDAT", new BigDecimal(990823));
JAVAOUT.setField("SRCSEQ", new BigDecimal(0001.00));
JAVAOUT.setField("SRCDTA", "     C                     MOVE *ON       *INLR");
JAVAOUT.WRITE();

Nothing to it.
