that's a good question.  From what I'm told, the best way is to learn or
get a decent knowledge base in C first.  So, from that angle check your
local community college or checkout the C in 21 Days types of books..Also
Viagraphics has a really nice set of video's on both C and JAVA...checkout
www.viagrafix.com.   Caveat:  don't expect any video or book to make you a
ace programmer as that only  comes with time and lots of Zantac, but they
do a really decent job of getting your feet wet and giving you a working
vocabulary...
