Title: RE: Java Books

If you want to learn Java this (free) book is excellent: Thinkink in Java (Bruce Eckel)

You can download it at the address: http://www.eckelobjects.com/

I am bewildered, so many choices and very limited knowledge; how do I pick a
introductory teaching book on Java?  If you were to purchase one book on
Java for As400 programmers to learn Java, which of the books available would
you choose?

There's "Java for RPG Programmers" by Phil Coulthard and George Farr; "Java
Applications Strategies for the AS/400" by Don Denoncourt; and "Java and the
AS/400: Practical Examples using VisualAge for Jave" by Daniel Darnell.  Any
others?  Perhaps a book not related to the 400 would be better.  I'd lean
more toward one that would have examples/exercises to assist in learning by
doing.

TIA
