Agreed - VMs are useful and I intend to switch to Windows 7 in the VM once I'm sure the stuff I need will run OK.

I wasn't talking about reliability in a VM - that has been excellent - in part I'm sure because I haven't had to install a whole bunch of stuff. I was talking about the Windows experiences that caused me to give up on MS and switch to Mac over two years ago.

Understood, however I've had just the opposite experience with Windows.

Windows usually runs fast and reliably even in VMs. Actually Windows 7
so far even looks good in terms of performance improvements.

One last comment on VM's. If you're testing new copies of technology,
just create a clean VM and use Snapshots because you can undo, redo
points in time. Now that's cool stuff !!

I don't know how I would get testing new technology done without VM's in
today's world :-)

Yes I use Windows when I have no option Richard - WDSC/RDi being one
of those cases. But the VM is never as good/fast as the native OS so
I try to keep everything native if I can.

One of the big problems I always had with windows was the slow down
and decrease in reliability as more and more stuff cluttered up the
registry. The few things I have running in Windows work quite well
right now so I don't want to mess it up.
