I only opened the .egldd file from the project tree view in desperation Pete! I was just trying to see if anything would work! It just happened that in doing so I could then see the EGL editor tab and select it so I knew for sure I was in the right place!

Anyway - thanks for checking. It does seem that 1.6 is needed.

Jon,

I am running Java 6 (update 16) on the Windows 7 side . Are you sure
the .egldd extension files are the ones you are working with? Normally
they would be the .egl files (.egldd are deployment descriptors).

I am not seeing what you are seeing however. I did see something
similar to this when I was on my Linux partition. Sometimes I had to
close the file (saving it) and then reopen it. At one point, it was
just easier to look at the source view to set the boxes and child- parent
relationships (because the icons are so dang tiny).

Knowing your OS might help.

Pete

Well - I don't have an answer to my question but I do know I am
running Java 1.5.

I guess I'll check if there are any Eclipse fixes etc. I am missing.

Installed a brand new instance of Eclipse and then installed the CE
plug-ins.

No errors reported by nothing quite works the way it should.

For example after opening a new EGL project etc. the editor does not
open. If I open one of the .egldd files then the editor tabs appear
- including the one for the dialog I am building. I can then select
it and drag components on to it for a while until it disappears
again. Similarly the properties window doesn't appear unless I ask
for it. Not sure if this will get through but this is a screen shot
of the upper part of the display - as you can see no editor tabs.

I was going to ask for help on the EGL CE forum but there's a
problem with their pages today that it won't accept either of my IBM
Ids - so even though I'm logged on the iBM site I'm a guest again as
soon as I get to the Cafe. ONly IBM could make it this hard to use
a support forum!
