Rob,

Based on the description of what you are using now, you can continue to
use the Sametime Community Server. This will continue to give you the
same functionality that you are using now. There is no need for any of
the WAS Sametime products - not even the System Console when using the
Community Server. If you start to need additional functionality - at that

time you can start looking into the WAS products based on the new business

needs.

As for something to help you make the decision, check out
http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/stwiki.nsf/dx/Planning_deployments_with_the_Sametime_Standard_features_you_want_st852

.

As for a nice step to step document - I'm not aware of anything. There
are some videos and documents out there for individual steps, but nothing
comprehensive as it will vary based on the features you want/need and the
platform(s) you are using to deploy them.

I hope that helps,
Amy

We will be upgrading from Sametime 8.5.1 running on Domino 8.5.1. I've
been doing some reading and if you want "the whole shooting match" then
some has to be WAS based. Some can be either WAS based or Domino based.

How do I make an intelligent decision on what to place where?
Are there guidelines to help me decide on the stuff that can be either to
chose the solution best for my company?
Is there a nice step-by-step for all this?

Currently all we are using is chat, presence checking and some web based
meeting. All internally.
