You can change run priority of the jobs.  The task will take the processor 

if available but yield to other jobs running at a higher priority. 

From an AS400 red book....

EXCERPT FROM THE AS400 GUIDE ON HOW TO SET PRIORITIES AND MAINTAIN THEM 
AFTER AN IPL

By default, Domino server jobs run at priority of 20.  To enable a server 
job to run at a different priority from the other server jobs, create a 
new class object specifically for that job.  These classes must be in the 
library QUSRNOTES.  Use the Create Class (CRTCLS) command to create the 
class.  For example, to create a class named MYCLASS in library QUSRNOTES 
with run priority set to 30, use this command:

CRTCLS CLS(QUSRNOTES/MYCLASS) RUNPTY(30)

Next you must tell Domino which task (or tasks) should use this class. 
Domino for AS400 looks for this information in a file names 
'/QIBM/USERDATA/LOTUS/NOTES/DOMINO_CLASSES'.  You can use the EDTF command 

to create this file, if it does not already exist.

Add your server, class, and tasks to the file in the following format:
SERVER=MYSERVER
CLASS=MYCLASS
TASKS=TASK1,TASK2,TASK3
CLASS=MYCLASS2
TASKS=TASK4,TASK5
SERVER=MYSERVER2
CLASS=MYCLASS3 QUSRNOTES
TASKS=TASK6

NOTE: We found that the class names such as MYCLASS must always be in 
uppercase.

Each time task1, task2, or task3 jobs start for the server MYSERVER, the 
jobs run using the attributes specified in the QUSRNOTES/MYCLASS class.

You can specify a different priority for any server job except SERVER and 
QNNINSTS jobs.  These two jobs always run at the priority specified in the 

class that is created when the server is set up.

Yeah, that's the process I'm talking about.  What is this parameter 
supposed to do?  I'm not wanting to disable Full Text Indexing, just 
throttle it a bit.

Are you talking about the process that updates Full text Indexes on 
schedule?  If so you can use this Ini setting.  Domino does give you a 
warning that its a debug param - 

Debug_Disable_Chronos=1

Restricting a process






Is there a way to prevent a task from taking over the entire server?  When 




Update runs on an overly large mail file, it kills the entire server's 
response times, including on the other DPARs.
