Your easiest and safest route would be to upgrade to V5R4 on the current
box and then follow the directions in the Backup and Recovery Guide to do a
full save on the old box and a full restore on the new box. I forget which
specific appendix gives those steps, but someone else will probably chime
in who remembers! There are ways to do a box to box migration from an
older release to a current release, but they are much more complex and i'd
recommend that a good B.P. or IBM technician (SE type) assist if you NEED
to go that route. It's best to keep it as simple and by the book as
possible. The Backup and Recovery Guide is pretty much the book to go
by...

Got a new 520+ (V5R4 OS, Domino 7.0.1) which is replacing an old 270 (V5R2
OS, Domino 6.5.2).

I want to move the current 270 over to the 520+ ---- and can't find
anything definitive on how to do the move. I definitely want to keep the
server name the same.

My plan is to shut down the 270, copy the server directory (all items under
Lotus/domino) and Notes/data directories (which includes the user's mail
files) off to tape, restore to the same directories on the 520+, upgrade
the directory, and start the server.

Is there a documented way (or a way which someone knows will work) to get
this done?????
