I would think it would be as simple as assigning the directory holding
your domino data to that external server. Not that I have any experience
doing that though. I question whether the cost/gb is really that
different on that machine. Why won't they buy more?
Cost/GB? IBM's new drives hold a lot. Also, you can get used drives dirt
cheap. We've went both ways.
Frame full? An expansion unit is probably cheaper than one of those
external units. Or just buy a new iSeries with 70gb drives.
Their 400's being obsoleted so they can get in their new pet hardware?
Change jobs or learn the new hardware.

Subject
Domino using EXTERNAL DASD

Hello all,

We love the stability of Domino in the AS400 however DASD is a concern.
My company will not buy additional DASD for our exixting AS400 Domino
machine.

We are pretty much running at full system capacity.

We think that we could have the domino application accessing/maintaining
data to
an EXTERNAL device ( EMC IP 40700 or anyother storage device)

Has anyone been able to setup something like this ?

Regards
