When I tried restoring a single file from the save file, I get a new error:
CPF3901 (Objects from save file DOMPRD1SAV in BACKUP not restored.) The
discussion indicates that the specified objects are not located in the save
file, but I got the name of the object by doing a DSPSAVF on the save file
that I was restoring from. It would appear that there is either something
wrong with how I named the object or with the save file itself. I'm
leaning toward my naming convention.

Library QUSRNOTES is an important one, containing subsystem descriptions,
job descriptions, whole bunch of other stuff that's created when you create
a Dom server.
Library QNOTES should just have the licensed program objects -- if you do a
SAVLICPGM that is the lib that will be saved. If you're moving to the same
version of Dom shouldn't be necessary to save that.
Are you getting the IFS objects in the QIBM directory also ? Most of what
I'm rattling of here I got from an IBM redbook -- SG24-5592. That's for
R5, not sure if there's an updated one for ND6 but the backup/restore
operations are still applicable for ND6.
Can you do a smaller sav/rst -- say one IFS object ???

I don't have a common tape format between the two machines. The boxes are
both V5R2. The DSD is latest CUM level since we just got done setting it
up. I'm not positive what the CUM level is on Server A, but it's not more
than a couple months out because that's when it was upgraded from V5R1.
Nothing but IFS objects.
That brings me to another question -- maybe I'm going the wrong direction
(or an incomplete one). Domino is installed on the DSD and I'm wanting to
transfer the Domino server from Server A to the DSD. What should I be
bringing if not just the IFS files?

I've moved between iSeries several times but always using tape backups,
never save files -- shouldn't matter though. Do you have a tape drive you
could use instead ?
What about OS differences between the two boxes -- same OS level, same CUM
PTF level ?
Did you just save the IFS objects ? Or IFS objects plus QSYS library
objects(qusrnotes, qnotes) ?

Sorry for those of you getting duplicates of this.
Our lease is up on iSeries A and we are replacing it with a Dedicated
Server for Domino (DSD). The plan is to save the Domino server off of
server A to a save file (which is our normal evening routine, anyway) and
FTP the save file to the DSD.
However, once the file is on the DSD, I'm unable to restore the contents to
the DSD. To restore the files on server A, I would use the RST command,
but that command isn't working. All attempts thus far have resulted in
"Parameters not valid with multiple file systems" -- check out CPF382B for
the message details. The options that work on Server A don't work on the
DSD and other options that make sense for the situation similiarly fail,
always with the same error. My first thought was that the file was messed
up during the transfer, but I can display the contents of the save file
using dspsavf, so it seems to be valid. I have transferred my test file
using each server as a client. From Server A, I put the file into a
pre-created savf without success. From the DSD, I did a GET
Original_Filename New_Filename (REPLACE, but I got the same result.
I have tried all of the suggestions provided in the error message without
any success -- several of them do no apply, anyway. Do I need to do
something to the save file to prepare it for this type of transfer? I see
references to SAVSAVFDTA, but I can't tell if it is appropriate here.
Any suggestions or direction of inquiry would be much appreciated.
