We experienced the exact same problem.  You probably have R4.6 (or lower) of
Notes which is not compatible with V4R5 (or higher) of OS.  A workaround is to
change the script to trim the trailing blanks, alternatively upgrade Domino on
the AS400 to V5.

We have upgraded our OS400 to V4R5 and this killed off our LEI.
We re-installed LEI and used the PTF's to move it up to the latest
version.
LEI now brings down the data from our AS/400 in to Notes BUT now includes
trailling spaces, which means our Notes application thinks the data is
'new' rather than a refresh.
Our AS/400 person is blaming Notes.
Our Notes person is blaming the AS/400.

Has anybody experienced anything similar and how did you get rid of those
pesky trailing spaces?  (Yes, the connection document has all the
necessary remove trailing spaces options selected!)
