Mark,
This is not an easy question but this is how I will answer. If you
have local users doing the same type of work in domino you could put a
sniffer on the network and figure out the traffic requirement. Understand,
that without knowing what your users are doing the link cannot be correctly
sized. If you don't have users on the local network that perform the same
functions as the remote users you are adding, you will need to study the
applications the users will access and then a guestimate could be made
based on the amount of data that must be moved to perform an action in the
application times the number of times that action would be expected to be
performed.
I could just say that 50 users could be supported on a 128k link, but
that would not answer your question because I based that answer on an
assumption that the users are light e-mail users only; that never send
attachments and never use any application other than mail.

I am sorry to say no one can provide you an answer to this question
without understanding the workloads of the users.

Subject: Bandwidth requirements

Hello all,

We are planning our Domino Installation. The server will be an AS/400
running Domino natively. My question is: Approximately how much bandwidth
would be required to support 50 mail users over a WAN to a single location
as well as about 50 mail users at the host location. I know this is a very
broad question and there are quite a few variables. I'm just looking for a
rule of thumb. The communications link will also transport green screen
traffic. Protocol will be all IP.

Thank You
