Re: Gun restrictions

License, registration, proof of insurance, just like an automobile.

Estimates are that anywhere from 80-95% of all gun crime is committed

How will more gun restrictions change that stat?

That sounds no better than a poll tax to me.

today's gun laws hurt honest poor and minorities worse. The creeps
and asshats won't carry that policy - they'll just acquire the guns
illegally like they do today.

Let's have no restrictions but require that any gun owner carry a
mandatory million-dollar liability policy for every gun he owns, similar
to what we do with motor vehicles. That might price some of the worst
asshats out of the market.

My old fashioned notions? I am addressing Rick's comment about no guns

I have no problems with guns for children, per se.

Its pretty hard to follow your posts. I gave up following them a long
time ago, and now I am trying to follow them again, and obviously doing
a bad job of it.

I asked what restrictions there should be and you answered no guns for
felons and children.

What am I misunderstanding? Did you mean those were the only two
restrictions, or they were just the first two that came to mind?

Your follow-on post talking about neighborhoods and skin color led me to
the idea that you meant there would be just two restrictions: felons and
children.

A local 9 year old girl got her deer this fall and there was no clamor
about that child having a gun, but I didn't bring that up here because I
was waiting for you to be more specific.

Instead you have wandered off into another argument with yourself about
your varying positions on the issue.

don't bother Gerald, I already did it and he's ignored it.

Wrong.
Mike, the dude cannot efficiently read, comprehend, and write back what
someone else has written.

Dicks implication of "only" misrepresents what Rick wrote.

Just to be clear: You already have said that the /only/ restrictions on
guns should be that felons and children not have guns.
