Re: More on the Komen Grants

The blind hatred I am perceiving in this thread is coming from Dick.

Really. That is clear. Sure.

A surprise attack of hatred and bile was pushed back by a huge majority
of folks calling in support of the reversal, with almost no one
supporting the decision, and you say what you say? Are you that much
lost in blind hatred that you can not see plain truth when it is right
in front of you?

Are you beginning to see yet why the idea of "My way or no way" is a
flawed and failed model of politics and governance in America?

One thing is clear: If you once supported abortionists, you are in for

rake you across the coals in the court of public opinion with the aid
and comfort of the mainstream media. Your past and current good deeds
will mean nothing, all that matters is that you broke the cardinal
rule and defunded the abortion industry, and for that you must pay.

Exactly. the absolute nasty and vile way Komen has been treated by

It is just one more example of pure hatred and vileness coming from a
relatively small group of people who are convinced that they, and only
they, know the answers to everything.

These people really need to read their Bible and take Jesus' teachings
to heart.

If funding screenings by PP was a sound idea to begin with, what changed

One of the comments from your link pretty well summed it up: "With all
due respect - sounds like someone realized they had gotten their you
know what caught in a wringer."

They are a breast cancer research funding outfit. almost 2 billion so
far. But that was not enough - they gored a sacred cow and now they
must pay.

That abortion politics enters into the picture at all is what disturbs
me. They did not originally defund PP because of abortion. But now
they're re-funding PP for no other reason than abortion politics.

disgusting.

It rubs me the wrong way that the corrosive influence of right-wing
politics has crept into this organization and that decisions are being
made based on those politics and not on any medical criteria. Both of
the doctors on the Komen board have resigned in protest which ought to
tell you something. IMO, if they're going to become an advocacy group,
they ought to relinquish their tax-exempt status and go whole hog. As
it stands, they've accepted a ton of money from people who don't share
their narrow view of the world and those people are pissed off, me among
them.

Wayne,
could you find an acceptable reason for Komen to stop "donating" to PP,
or are you just being pouty?

Is that today's talking point? Yesterday it was that it was their policy
not to fund organizations that were under investigation.

They were getting nothing for their money. You were fooled again.
