The rats in DC never wanted it.  The exact same mandate was delayed
under the prior administration's reign.

By the bye, for a good time, visit http://www.uscis.gov/e-verify set
yourself up as a company and try to e-verify a few social security
numbers you know, like yours, your spouse's, children...  Hammer on
the a few dozen times and then go ask USCIS how many times someone
tried to check your soc for employment.  You know, some East Coaster
fraudulently using your soc as ID.
