So then we'll never really know whether Palin helped McCain or not. It all
depends on who you would have voted for otherwise. My opinion is still that
most of the base would have showed up as a vote against Obama--with or
without Palin on the ticket.

Jeff,

Does that mean if McCain had selected someone else with less
excitement (Romney?), you would not have voted for McCain and
instead, you would have either stayed home or voted for a
third party candidate? Or would you have still voted for
McCain because it would be a vote against Obama the Socialist?
