Re: Liberal philosophy

So what is a liberal?

to clarify, and give a few examples why the definition changes over time:

JFK was a liberal - and while today's democrats like to quote him and
be associated with his policies, he would be considered a
'hypocritical neocon warmonger cutting taxes for his rich friends) by
today's standards.

He was a staunch anti-communist, anti-socialist. He escalated the war
in Vietnam, he threated Cuba twice with invasion and even nuclear
destruction. He evicerated the high end of the personal income tax
brackets.

Was he a liberal? certainly by 1960 standards, but by today's standards?
