so much wrong, so little time to type.
We can even make the case
that Saddam Husseien was moving Iraq politically towards the West.
no, 'we' can't.
My own conclusion with the transition of power from the Shah is that we
got caught short in our plans for orderly transition by his untimely and
speedy death. Had he lived a normal span the changes there might have
been more to our liking.
he left iran to the revolution a year and a half before he died. The
problem was the Prime Minister Bakhtiar was all that was left to
promote democracy, and Carter withdrew his support to the "popular"
revolution. History tells us what that little foreign policy decision
did for us.
As to the police powers that these guys develop.... Its normal and even
we here in the US are fighting that trend. Have you ever stopped to
count up the number of gun-totin' Federal, State, and local law agencies
in your county? We have a pretty well developed police force in this
country. Thank goodness its under control, but the line is getting
thinner all of the time.
Thinner? Today? I guess you consider today's cops more dangerous
than the wild west or most southern cops from reconstruction to the
civil rights movement?
heh. cops have never been more accountable for their actions than
they are today.
Lets see... in my town I have private security agencies, city cops,
sheriff & deputies, tribal police, state police, game wardens, DOT
enforcement at the state and local levels. The Feds include Customs,
CIA, FBI, Secret Service, Treasury, Bureau of Prisons, all the branches
of the military including the Coast Guard and National Guards.
Additionally there are all of the various local, county, state, and
Federal courts and their bailiffs and guards.
We're pretty well policed up, I'd say.
and they are all still outnumbered and outgunned by an armed populous.
And you want to increase gun control?
arguing with you point by point is like shooting fish in a barrel.
