Re: Urban Institute study contradicts industryclaimsofpoor math and science performance by United States students!

Yard signs have a couple of purposes. First, it involves the person(s) in the home. Being involved increases the chances of them actually voting, and increases the chances they will vote for the person listed on the sign on their lawn. Secondly, it creates name recognition, which in some races is the deciding factor. Third, lots of signs can overwhelm the pol of the lesser signs.

Speaking of yard signs... what's the intended purpose of them? One thing I
never liked about election seasons is that yard signs pop up everywhere and
looks like a bunch of clutter all over the neighborhood.

This is a serious question, though. Is there any benefit of posting them
_other_ than a show of support for someone? I've never changed my vote
because of someone else's yard sign, so I can't imagine that being a
reason.
