That's why I specifically said "worldwide".
You also said "mainstream," and the 9/11 terrorists were clearly not
mainstream. They're extremists, remember? Even you used to call them that.
US muslims are certainly
more 'moderate', however you define that term, than muslims globally.
Honestly, I'm not sure what you mean by this. Do you know any U.S. Muslims
personally?

support suicide bombing killing innocent civilians as a means of
defending Islam - down from 41%
So even in a terrorist state, only 25% support suicide bombings. Pakistan
is almost all Muslim, I would think if this was as mainstream as you say,
there would be a much higher level of support there.
Don't forget, many worldwide Muslims don't even believe Arabs were
responsible for 9/11.
So, like I said 9/11 terrorists are no more Muslim than the Westboro
Baptists are Christian. If you wanted though, you could probably make the
argument that Islam has more extremists than Christianity. But it's
certainly not mainstream.
