Not only that, Buck, usually they mail me a coupon for something to make
up for the bad experience. That goes a long ways towards making me happier.

Three weeks ago Chuck E Cheese lost our order for food, and the cook
person came out of the kitchen and apologized. I felt a lot better.
Then she said "That was a large, wasn't it? ant what did you want for
toppings?" I answered "No, just a plain cheese, medium" and she sidled
up to me and said "shhhh.... I have the authority to upgrade your order
to whatever you want. What do you want" and then she slipped me a hand
full of tokens. Needless to say, that turned my attitude around in a
very quick way.

I do the same thing, and so does my wife, and for more than 20 years.
We've had phone calls from managers thanking us for our honesty even
when it's been bad news. We've also had phone calls from managers
trying to defend their practises.

I don't think it's possible for them to get better without feedback.
Think of it this way: If you are the only one giving feedback, the
store/restaurant will change to suit YOU! :-)
