The link below is the first of a four part series posted at the
Columbia University Spectator by a senior political science major at
Barnard College. It's all about her brother's decision to accept an
invitation to attend the Naval Academy at Annapolis.
Apparently, at first she was supportive of his decision until after he
had joined and she found out that the Naval Academy was..... <wait for
it>..... run by the military.
He would have to learn about weapons and leading troops into battle.
He would have to shave his head. He would be yelled at. And, horror
of horrors, during induction days, "the head of the Navy openly
admitted that their goal was to transform these boys into men who
would willingly die defending our country."
Oh. my. gawd. He OPENLY ADMITTED IT!
This is a senior political science major at a top flight college.
Read the whole thing. I can't wait for the next installment where she
tells us everyone at the Academy "are a bunch of big meanies and
poopieheads."
btw, her brother likes the academy and has decided to stay, despite
her protestations.
