Re: Obama doesn't take money from federal lobbyists...

One point that might add weight is that in much of the rest of the World, his criminal acts here were seen as just normal politicing. I believe they honestly wondered why we'd made such a stink about it.

Rick,
I will respect your opinion and memories of the late 1980's and early 1990's
as one of those who socialized with those who universally hated him. The
rest of the world, including heads of state in both Eastern and Western
Europe and moreover the far east respected him as a statesman and respected
his achievements in foreign policy. During 1994, then sitting President
Clinton sent him on a political junket representing the US in Russia, where
he met with the recently departed Yeltsin and others. I don't know if that
would signify to you that he was respected, but for most of us, it was
really interesting how he was hated for his corruption and loved for his
statesmanship.

John,

I said "he got his", and I stand by it. True, he didn't go to jail,
but he resigned in shame, was nearly universally hated and never regained
any measurable stature. he was interviewd about his opinion on his
strengths - foreign affairs - very late in his life, but was never taken
seriously again, and died a bitter old man.

History will never rehabilitate his legacy, and that was what mattered most
to him.

Mr. Nixon was not convicted. Nor did he ever ADMIT taking part in any of the illegal activities. He was buried with full Presidential honors, and as per the Constitution, he was afforded all of the rights and privileges of full citizenship and preclusion from prosecution based on his presidential pardon.

Whomever it was that said he got his apparently wasn't around for the late 1980's and early 1990's when he was treated in exactly this manner by diplomats, heads of state and US Administrations, as it should be under our laws. He was guilty, but never convicted.

Say what you want, but the constitution works.

What crime was Nixon ever CONVICTED of?

he only learned that technique from the masters - the Clinton
administration.
how many "I don't recall", "I am not aware", "I forget", and "not to my knowlege" answers did congress get from the clintonistas when they were being investigated?

thousands?
How quickly President Nixon's contributions to this genre are forgotten.
