So sayeth my cousin, the police officer. Boofie just doesn't get that those
folks are playing with a completely different deck. There's no negotiating
with people who will pull the trigger on you because you offend them in the
smallest way.
Even GW wouldn't do that. Cheney, maybe, but not GW. Goodnight, Boofie.

The police in our country are not allowed to walk away, ever.

Right, but that's what police do. They try to negotiate and when that
doesn't work a desision is made, either walk away or go get them.

No, police do not use the Waco playbook. That was a Federal gameplan,
not local cops.

Yes I do, Rick. I believe Police negotiators have an an excellent
success ratio and that that ratio is not based upon various ways of
imposing power.

As to negotiating with Cho... the police never got that chance. Had
they, then maybe the death toll would be just the original two that
died? We'll never know, will we.

everyone have their crayons ready? ok, ready, let's go!
No, it doesn't assume any such thing, Rick. Police Negotiators
negotiate with nuts on a regular basis,
Do you think negotiations with Cho on monday would have proven
fruitful?
And what are those police negotiators offering the nuts in this
negotiation? well, lets see - 99% of the time, the bottom line is
that the nuts have 3 choices.
1) come out now, with your hands held high and we will not kill you,
but we _will_ prosecute to the full extent of the law.
2) do nothing and be waited out till you starve or snap, or let your
guard down, in which case we will storm the building and kill you.
3) if you start shooting hostages, we will storm the building and kill
you.
Everything else about these 'negotiations' are just niceties to calm
him down and try to talk him out of options 2 and 3.
