Oh geez, everyone's an immigrant to america except the native indians.
Concerns for workers, isn't that nice. My concern is for citizens of my
country to get jobs, not the citizens of other countries.

I am also a product of immigrans aut what has that to do with illegals?
Actually, I'd like to expand on that a bit. My grandfather was a stone
cutter in the granite industry. Granite dust kills you slowly and
painfully. When he was working dust collectors existed but it was
cheaper to not buy dust collecting equipment and bring in immigrants to
do the work, and kill them over 10 or 12 years. So, he died at an early
age. My grandmother died for lack of decent health care when my mother
was three. So my mother was an orphan because companies valued profits
over lives.
Now, ask me again why I am a Liberal, with concerns for workers?

Sigh. You don't even read what you write, do you? I am the product of
immigrants. The difference is that they were told to get with the program or
starve. There was no welfare when they came over.

huh? What does that story have to do with illegals?

Heck no! How many times do you need to be told??????????????
Anybody who enters this country legally and begins the citizenship process
is welcome. If, after 30 days, they haven't begun the citizenship process,
ship them back to where they came from.
My great grandparents were off the boat and went thru Ellis Island, and
one
side had my grandmother with them.

ah.... So then you don't mind that there is this pathway to
citizenship? You believe it is valid and useful?
In that case, we are closer than you think. Can you think of other good
ways that we expand that process in some meaningful way?
I stress meaningful because I don't relish the idea of a noble cause
sinking under procedures and paperwork.

Yup, and they're all going through the citizenship process. That's the
difference between them and your future son-in-law
