Why would anyone need a Federal ID as
opposed to their driver's license or state id?
The argument is that I may be able to get a drivers license in a lax
area like Upstate New York by using false information. Now I can
present that (false info, but genuine document!) and gain access to
all manner of goodies.
A single Federal document with strict guidelines is supposed to winnow
out the applicants who provide false information.
