"The other side" as you put it probably refers to the terrorists that did
9/11?  Which even GW Bush admits has nothing whatsoever to do with Iraq.  So
 I would be speaking of Iraq.

Why do I need any?  Say it was before airplanes or automobiles if you need

The Germans, Russians, and Japanese stopped because the US (with help)
stopped them.  Just where are we doing the "slaughtering of innocents"?  And
don't try to say the Middle East.  It's the other side that's doing the
"slaughtering of innocents".
