Age discrimination on entitlements is the norm.
However the underlying issue is providing health care. Right now we are
very close to having de facto universal health care. Almost no one is
turned down at the Emrgency Rooms of the nation's hospitals. All services
are not provided to all patients, but the fact remains that we as a Nation
already have nearly universal health care, but it is provided in a patch
work of means. This may be the best way, but perhaps there are more things
we could do. I like the interaction and the jockeying that goes on in
political solutions. I believe it has given us a country with some of the
finest services in the World.
All I am suggesting is that perhaps the time has come to homogenize our
health care offerings so that more services can be provided to more people
for the same or less cost. At least, we could look at it couldn't we?
As far as fairness is concerned, how do you feel about the employer that has
to offer you health insurance and pay a portion of your costs for you, but
your employer's competition in the rest of the World has no such burden? Do
you agree that in fairness he should be allowed to just drop your health
insurance and let you take care of it on your own?

As SecDef, Jimmy of course would go to afghanistan and try to replace
the poppy fields with pot fields, if he weren't killed trying. I
don't think the Afghans are parrot heads. Their music tends to high
pitched warbles and clucks.
Once you start rewarding youngsters and seniors with a new
entitlement, do you think that would make it through the courts?
Those who don't recieve free health care for no other reason than age,
would of course sue for age discrimination, and then your plan would
be blown completely out of the water.
