Doesn't Marion Barry claim he was set-up?

I disagree with the points made. Marion Berry disproves all on the list.

John,
I do agree with you, on the ills of corrupt redistricting, and I do find
myself in a tough position acknowledging the "gerrymandering" on the
republican side. But alas, I live in Illinois, where if you would take a
look at my US Rep. District 17, you find a perfect example of how to keep
Downstate democrats in power...

But as we now see... to be "wrong" or illegal, you must be all of the
following:
1) caught
2) charged
3) convicted
4) non-liberal....

Gerald

Gerald,
I beg to disagree about the Gerrymandering. It was the most despicable
display of corruption in recent political history. While I'm not a Democrat,
nor a Republican, I am proud of the steps the Democrats took and completely
ashamed at how the Republican party in my state acted. This was completely
outside of the laws of this country and this state. This is on par with FDR
loading the supreme court. This single move will cost millions of jobs for
this country and has already compromised the data security of every single
citizen of this state. This is one of the most deplorable acts of politics I
have ever seen, or ever want to witness first hand.
I'd like to see the courts do something about it, but I fear it won't happen
because of the partisanship in the court systems today. I say this because
of first hand knowledge of corruption, partisanship and just out-right
felonious illegal activities by politicians, judges and administrators in
this state.

Booth
I see you are still pouting about why the Dem's lost.
(because of "gerrymandering", and "gay-bashing")

I think what happened is best summed up by one of the wisest men
In politics today:

"When there is a clear choice between a liberal candidate and a conservative

Candidate, the conservative will win."

just as a comment... The increase in the House was 4 seats, right? One was
Al Zellers seat, which... lets face it, has been Republican all along. Four
more seats came from the gerrymandering in Texas that was done by the
Republicans. So 5 out of the 4 new seats are not from the election at all,
are they?

btw, isn't the gerrymandering issue still in the courts in Texas? It isn't
clear that the gerrymandering will be allowed to stand.

As for the gay-bashing amendments... well... that is a hot button issue
and certainly brought many people to the polls, and they voted
overwhelmingly for the Republicans. I consider that to be the real loss in
this campaign. Hatred won out. I like to think better of Americans, but I
guess I am wrong.

>Not at all Rick. Not at all. You are right, GW won the election, and
improved his parties power. His win was decisive but hardly compelling and
certainly not a mandate. For him to act like he won a huge mandate is just
arrogant. But then, he is arrogant, eh?

Not a mandate.

The House increased the Republican Party margin, the Senate increased

the Republican Party margin, Bush was elected by the popular vote, he

was elected by the electoral vote, and the state constitutional

amendments most fought by Democrats and favored by the "right-wing of

the Republican Party", won big.

Not a mandate.

But don't worry, he's not going to implement the things you said you

worried about. He even didn't try to hide this very much, what with

Cheney talking about his Lesbian daughter and advocating same-sex

marriage, putting pro-abortion and pro-same-sex-marriage advocates and

so-called "moderates" front and center at the Republican convention,

broadcasting "aw-I-hate-this" with body language while his lips were

saying Marriage Amendment, funding increased to Planned Barrenhood, he

sent McCain out to blast the Swift-Boat Vets (while he contradicted them),
