Albert,
Condemnation isn't a religious concept. look it up.
Your description of Christians IS petty, condesending and judgemental.
Of course, I only agree with people who think the way I do. To do
otherwise would be oxymoronic.
I never said you have to believe in anything to be a moral person. My main
point was that being religious shouldn't disqualify you from public office,
which is exactly what you are suggesting.
The stem cell research decision is not a law. This president simply said
there's no room in the federal budget to fund research that use new
embryos. Unfunded research can continue unabated. If the science is
there, it will be self funding and will prosper. Or, the next president can
make a different decision and fund it.
And finally, there's no Christian monarchy who can impose laws on our
country. They have to play by the same rules as anyone else, and can win
or be defeated. I respect your right to work to endorse, change or abolish
laws as you see fit. My only expectation is for you to respect mine, and
those that are faith based. You can argue agains any law on it's merits
all you want without the condesending attitude towards all those of faith.
It borders on bigotry, and is unbecoming.
And, that's REALLY all I have to say on the subject.
Rick
