Re: water added to meat

A long time. Have you ever worked in or been around the food processing
industry? There is some knowledge you don't want to have. The best thing
to do is get a big freezer, buy a steer and a pig, and have a butcher
prepare a 6-12 month supply of meat for you, depending on the size of your
family. The Nelson family has been doing that ever since I was a kid.

I haven't shoppped much for food until recently. Last night I was
looking
at the meat and poultry. One package said "Ham and water product" "23%
water added" . As I looked the packages over I saw "21% chicken broth"
and
22% water and flavorings added"

How long have stores been selling meat and poultry that are more than 1/5
water? Does this strike anyone else as odd, or am I just out of touch?
