I am glad that you feel better. Clearly, you FEEL rather than THINK
about your positions and opinions. I may be wrong, but I suspect that
you complained when Clinton caved in to opinion polls (for example on
Welfare Reform).
Two comments about this particular post.
1> Your statement ("Bush really doesn't care what the American Public
thinks.") can only be true if you assume that the protests correlate
with public opinion. Most of the time, the OPPOSITE is true . .
generally, the more strident liberal protest on an issue, the more
consistent general American support of the administration is on that
issue. That was certainly not the case
2> Assuming your paraphrase is correct, Bush got it exactly right. In
our form of government, elected leadership is not supposed to follow the
whims of public opinion. We elect representatives whose job is to
exercise their judgment, not cave in to every whiny protestor. We vote
for them (or not) on their performance.
