Sad to say but I have seen an AS/400 replaced here for the first time. This
was an unusual situation, however. Several hospitals merged and the
mainframe folks won out and the AS/400 people left. All they had to do was
tell management that the AS/400 wasn't big enough and no one questioned
them. Their "new" application is incredibly archaic and they are still
pouring money down the hole. And the "big move" is still somewhere off in
the future.
