There is zero difference between the handling of a logical and a physical.
If I recall correctly the compiler does not even know the difference unless
it "asks" and it has no need to do so.

I would suggest you try the START with a lowval (Hex 00's) key - set it up
in debugger if you want - and try that.  You should get the first record.

What happens if you change the code so that it reads anyway even after the
START fails with status 23?
