Thanks so much for the example. I did try the 'sleepytime' program but
still am having problems compiling. Basically, I cannot find the
'SLEEP' object in any of the Binding directories in QSYS, including the
QC2LE binding directory. As a matter of fact - all objects in all of
the binding directories in lib qsys all begin with the letter 'Q'. Is
there something else I am missing here? Also we are on v5r2 - if it
makes a difference. How do I get the SLEEP object into QC2LE?

You probably missed this:
           PROCESS nomonoprc

and this:
The "Process nomonoproc" is needed to ensure that "sleep" is the
function we use and not "SLEEP".

from Jon's example and instructions.

Either that or when you pasted the source code you were in uppercase input mode so "sleep" became "SLEEP". If so then change it back to "sleep"

Neither 'SLEEP' nor 'sleep' are objects so you won't find them in an object list. They are procedures (or functions) and as such are inside a service program object (like a DLL or shared library). 'sleep' is exposed from the QP0SSRV1 service program which is not in the QC2LE binding directory so you don't need to specify it on the compile. The compiler will automatically find it because it is listed in the QUSAPIBD which all ILE compilers use during compilation.

Also make sure the source type is CBLLE and not just CBL.

Simon Coulter.
