how to get data area in Cobol? -- COBOL400-L

Any idea why this doesnt work in v4.4?

I am trying to retrieve the data area DACOMPANY and place the contents into ws-company.

Compiler error msg is:

* 720 MSGID: LNC1326 SEVERITY: 30 SEQNBR: 021000
Message . . . . : 'DATA-AREA' not defined name. Statement or clause ignored.

Accept ws-company from data-area for 'DACOMPANY'.
