I don't know where you are getting your information from but  "Noticed Cobol on
the AS/400 does not support display statements like on the mainframe." where did
you notice this ?  COBOL/400 supports ANSI '85 - ANSI '85 mandates the Display
statement - I use it all the time.



COBOL/400 does also provide a low-level version of the screen I-O via the
Display statement - is that confusing you?



There are _very_ few things that COBOL/400 does not support that mainframe COBOL
does - most of them platform specific or where the mainframe version breaks the
ANSI rules and compatibility with the "broken" rules could not be achieved.
There are many, many things that COBOL/400 does support (externally described
files, direct display and printer file support, the LIKE keyword for data
definition etc.) that mainframe COBOL can't hold a candle to.



Maybe your company could use some COBOL/400 training - I just happen to know a
couple of people <vbg>
