If you set the number of periods on the company master to 13, then period
13 is the same as any other period. All journals, inquiries reports would
work normally.

The only problem you would have is that GL reporting that compares for
example, period 6 of last year to period 6 of this year, the comparisons
would be off. Like comparing June to July instead of June to June.

BPCS and other ERP systems allow for 13 periods with a 14th audit period.
Some companies like to use an equal 4 week month and then you would have
13 months in the year. 13 * 4 = 52 weeks in the year.

change of ownership occurs in middle of month..

again.. I am just trying to determine if period 13 is same as all other
periods.

Peter

Why would you want to split the periods?

From an accounting point of view it should not be a problem unless the
change of ownership occurs in the middle of the month. In this case I
would
simply change the period and start dates for March and/or April. This
would
allow the company to continue to do comparative reporting year against
year
and like period with like period in different years.

The only impact of a middle of the month change would be skewed results
for
the 2 periods. Over the course of the year it would not have an effect.

Hi Arlett,

Period 13 usually follows after period 12.

Are you going to use period 4 for "April before purchase" and period 5 for
"April after purchase"?

We created a separate environment the last time we were purchased. Will
you
need to run "Year End" in the "Before Purchase" environment?

Best Regards,

Peter.

We are getting purchased and need to have an extra monthend for this
year..

Any gotchas?? or is Period 13 used for something particular..??

(our version only has 13 periods)
