We had the source code on our old version and insisted that we get it when we migrated. Without it we probably would have been told to move to another system. We started out on BPCS 6.0.4 and over the years migrated to 6.1.2, 8.3.2 and then 8.3.3. From day one I was told to make sure that each change was well documented and coded so that a migration could be easily done. Each new migration has in fact become a little faster and easier with knowledge gained from the last. I review the net change documents with each migration and eliminate any modifications they have addressed but we still have quite a few.

Subject: [BPCS-L] LX Source Code Non-inclusion

In our negotiations with Infor regarding upgrading to LX, I was
surprised to hear that the source code is normally no longer provided to
licensees. To me this sounds like a gigantic hindrance but maybe I'm
misunderstanding the impact of this non-inclusion.

Can I hear from some of you on LX as to your feelings to this policy?
How has it hindered you? Have you even been negatively affected by not
being able to get to the "guts" of the programs?

Bill
