Don,

You can only do 'exactly' what you are asking by upgrading to V8/LX.
The functionality to use the item routing info exists as an option.
I don't have access via one of our LX clients for the specifics right now -
but could get further info if needed - but only makes sense if you are contemplating an upgrade.

That said, at V4, there is a field called 'Daily L/T Rate' that may get you close.
I happen to be at a V4 client - so here is a portion of the help text for this field:

'If the entry in this field is non-zero, BPCS divides the order quantity by
this value and adds the result to the fixed lead time specified on this
panel to determine the lead time that BPCS actually uses to plan
production of an order for this item. This allows lead times to be
adjusted according to the quantity of an order.'

Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me off-line if needed.

Kent,

Yes, great answer, and we know that. The problem as I see it is how do
we get the two "in sync" - that is to say how would we set the normal
IIM lead time so that it not only reflects the Move and Queue time in
the routings, but also some "arbitrary" or "normal" build quantity RUN
time for each order for this particular part number?? We want the dates
to remain the same as often as possible.

Thanks,
Don C.

Don,

You have a planned order with a start date and a release date. The
difference between the 2 is your lead time.
When you release the order in MRP540 using action code 11 (forward
schedule), you are using the release date as your start date and
calculating a new due date based on your routing (run + move +queue).
Action code 12 (backward schedule) you would use the due date to
recalculate the release date.

In the 'planning' side you use lead time, when you release an order you
are in 'execution' mode and you use the routings.

Confusion:
I enter a forecast and run mps
I run mrp and cap
I have a planned order with a start date
Then, I release that planned order to a shop oder, and the start date rolls "back".
What is the logic causing that start date to change - on the shop order?

TIA,
Don C.
