The ELA holds hard allocations. The soft allocation/requirement is in the FMA. If you take a look into FMA right after you cut a shop order you will see records for each quantity of component that the parent needs.

Okay. So the actual allocation is in ELA but what other files and fields,
for inquiry purposes, have that data as well? I thought the ILI had that
information stored but as I look closer it doesn't appear that it does. Is
it only the ELA and IIM files that are updated with shop order
allocations?

In any version the allocation is in the ELA. Item master and warehouse
Files show the allocation in the detail for inquires but the ELA is the
allocation file
