We also used ECM for ALL external orders and it has worked quite well.
We take orders in from the web, from proprietary systems (Nemra), from
EDI, etc.

ECM generates orders using the natural functionality of bpcs (what comes
from item master, from customer master , etc).\

We are a heavily modified 6.01 shop

I'd probably opt for using ECM to get the orders into BPCS.
Load your order data up to the TPEC, TOHB, TOLB etc. and ECM will create
the orders. It still uses the ORD7xx validation and posting routines in
the background, but it really simplifies the front end data load.
We're on 6.1.01, so I don't know how well it all works at 6.0.04, but we
use this route for all orders 'configured' in outside systems (MS CRM
etc.)

Subject: [BPCS-L] ORD700 Posting

We are on a 6.0.04 system, starting to implement a new web based product
configurator as a front end to order entry. I am curious if anyone has
replaced ORD700 as the front end of order entry. If so, did you
continue to write to the work files and somehow automate the posting
process, allow entry of ECH/ECL records directly, make users go into
ORD700 for final checks and posting or some other method? Any input is
appreciated.

The front end configurator has been selected and purchased already,
please no solicitations on that front.

Thanks,
