We are on 405 CD on an AS/400 model 170 which can only go to V5R2 and we on V5R1.

My understanding is that SSA announced they would end support for 405CD, then cancelled that announcement, then announced it again, then cancelled it, and I am no longer up to date on what the truth is of the situation. Our belief that support would only go a short time before being cancelled, and the skyrocketing prices of that support, and the sharp reduction in quality of the support, all contributed to us leaving OSG and going with another provider of BPCS tech support at a cost that is microscopic compared to OSG and astronomically superior.

The earlier thread on BPCS vs. V5R$ was
"Where do I find BPCS/iSeries installation Documentation? "
in which we learned that a major proble was how SQL ILE coped with descending keys.

Now BPCS 405 CD did not come with SQL or ILE.
Our modifications added that.
If your company does not have such modifications, then you may be safe from the main threat.

Davide,

Thanks for the reply.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was my understanding that 405CD was no longer supported. Thus I wasn't expecting SSA to test it on v5r4.

Are you saying that 405CD will be tested for compatibility with v5r4 by SSA?

Thanks,

Charles Wilt
