Perhaps, as with other BPCS jobs you run from outside BPCS, you need to
insert a CALL SYS664 with a parm of any valid BPCS program (usually SYS664).

p.s. have you thought of using our BPCS Archiving software to clean up old
data? This is available as 'Locksmith' from Unbeaten Path if you are in the
States.
