I am an independent consultant who has implemented BPCS over 100 times in my
career. I have also sold a BPCS replacement package called MPM II many times
to companies looking for a viable ERP solution. It is much like BPCS 4.05 CD
(optional GUI), and has all the supply chain, manufacturing, and financial
functionality required to effectively run a business. The total package
price is between $39,500 and $99,500 depending on the size of the AS/400.
There is no maintenance fee, unless you choose the optional first year
protection fee. You actually buy a 1-time perpetual license to the product,
and it becomes yours to do what you would like. It is truly a viable
alternative to those small to medium (even approaching large)sized
businesses looking for an alternative to the BPCS software platform. It is
implemented in lover 1,000 companies throughout the world.

I am a certified reseller of this product, and would welcome your questions
and evaluation of the product.

I've got experience in COPICS (don't ask), MAPICS, JDE and Pansophic
(currently CA something-or-other). Of the bunch of them, I would go to
Pansophic. But - BPCS 4.05CD handles the load for me. I work for an
old-line company, and Web functionality and fancy-dancy screens aren't a
requisite to run this business. I won't be upgrading in the near future.

For those of you that haven't checked recently, SSA is no longer insisting
on 10 thousand dollars for a new software key - they are now demanding the
restoration of software maintenance and the payment of a penalty that could
equal the revenue lost by not keeping maintenance current. It is due to
their unrelenting attitude and the final price tag that one company is
looking to move away from BPCS and on to another package.

So, my question to you is: If you were in the same predicament, which
package would you prefer to move on to or what package have you heard good
things about? Let's assume that staying on the AS/400 is a requirement.

(I strongly recommend everyone not on current maintenance to contact SSA
and find out what the impact would be to your company. This issue could
have an extreme impact on the viability of your company and no one should
encounter this situation unprepared).

Bill
