Jingker-

I get a sense that the outsourcing may be a temporary or
intermittent arrangement. If this is the case, you not only have to address
two planning scenarios (production vs. purchased), but also two costing
scenarios.

Assuming that both scenarios will exist, I would create a second
part number for the out-sourced BBB and set this up as an alternate item for
the produced BBB. This second part would have no BOM. And with two separate
parts, you could cost by production costs or by purchase price.

When associated with a separate Materials method code, that second
method would be selected to create the correct type of Shop Order, and then
the produced BBB could be planned for (materials and capacity) or the
out-sourced BBB could be purchased/transferred in.

The components CCC and DDD will still be planned even I change the item
type of assembly BBB to Purchased (N). Do I have to delete the structure
finally if we would like
to get the BBB be planned ?

Thanks.

Dear All:

Using BPCS C/S v6.1.01 on HP-UX. Have a question about the MRP calculating
result.

Product "AAA" with assembly "BBB" and the BBB with two components "CCC" and
"DDD".
Normally, the item type of BBB is assembly. After the MRP execution,
requirement
CCC and DDD will be calculated.

Question is:

If we oursourcing the BBB and change the item type to component, the
requirement CCC and
DDD will be still calculated in the same BOM structure. But we just needs
to calculate the
BBB only.

Can anyone know how to solve it ? Thanks.
