We have a similar situation with prices.
There is enormous pressure to service the needs of customers, but if an
invoice goes out in which one of the line items has no price, it is very
easy to overlook. With our daily billing is a list of upcoming shipments
that STILL has no price. This goes to Customer Service to PLEASE research
and fix before actual ship date.
I do the billing for one facility that does not finish up until after HQ
office staff goes home.
There is a report we run right before billing which lists what got shipped,
with various key information, including price. At bottom of page is
minimum price found. Once a week there is zero there, so I do some DFU to
insert list price or price list whatever before billing. Once every two
months I can't find list price or price list, so I bill everything except
that one shipment.
We have a report that runs every night and list exceptions to be reviewed.
This includes all missing cost and extremely low and high margin order
lines. This gives accounting and sales a chance to review cost / sales
price for errors.
